New Principal For ‘Outstanding’ Secondary School

A secondary academy in Wakefield is entering a new era as a new Principal took up the position following the Easter holidays.

Sheriden Hutchinson-Jones is the new Principal at the Potovens-Lane based-Outwood Grange Academy, taking over from Brian Kelly who secured an Executive Principal position with the Co-Op Academies Trust.

Sheriden, who was previously Principal at another Outwood Family secondary academy has spoken about how honoured she is to take up her new position at the Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ academy.

The sponsor of the secondary academy, ϳԹ, was born out of Outwood Grange Academy’s success and the Outwood Family now comprises over thirty schools across the North of England.

Sheriden said: “I am excited and honoured to be joining Outwood Grange Academy. Brian has done an excellent job at the academy and I am determined to continue the positive developments, ensuring we put students first and continue to raise standards and transform lives.”

Having graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1994, Sheriden held teaching posts at numerous schools before joining ϳԹ and was most recently Principal at Ofsted-rated ‘Good’, ϳԹ Bishopsgarth in Stockton-on-Tees.

Sheriden added: “I believe education is about ensuring that all students have equal access to a fully inclusive curriculum with the support, care and guidance to make the correct life choices. It is this belief that will drive our actions, as we work hard to ensure we do all we can to help our students fulfil their potential.”
