Outwood Celebrates Students’ GCSE Success
Students across ϳԹ academies in the North of England were celebrating some GCSE highlights this summer.
A number of the academies showed improvement on the previous year’s results, while others continued to maintain a high-standard of performance.
One of the major highlights of the day came from ϳԹ Hemsworth, which saw its students deliver a record breaking set of results, which included a 17% rise in the amount of students achieving grade 5 or higher in English and Maths (37%). Overall 53.5% of students achieved a grade 4 or higher in English and Maths.
ϳԹ Portland provided similarly impressive results, with 83% of students achieving a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, while 59% achieved grade 5 or above in both subjects. In English alone, an incredible 90% of students achieved grade 4 or above while 75% achieved grade 5 or above in the subject.
One academy that continues to exceed expectations was ϳԹ Danum, with 69% of students achieving a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, and 50% of the students successfully achieved a grade 5 or above in both subjects.

Other successes include ϳԹ Bydales, where 86% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in both English and Maths. Individually, the results for the subjects were equally impressive with 91% of students achieved a grade 4 or above in Maths (80% achieved grade 5 or above), while 89% of students passed English with a grade 4 or above (75% of students achieved a grade 5 or above).
ϳԹ Freeston also showed strong improvements on the 2018 results. A major highlight was a 10% increase in the number of students who achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and Maths.
Outwood Grange Academy continued to perform highly, with 80% of students attaining a grade 4 or above in English and Maths, with 63% of students achieving a grade 5 or above in both subjects. An incredible 90% of students a grade 5 or above in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
