Outwood Primary Academy Darfield Child Selected For District Schools Football Team

A child from Outwood Primary Academy Darfield has been selected to represent the local District Schools Football team.

Aston Adcock, who is in year 6 at OPA Darfield, has been selected to represent Barnsley and District Schools Football team following extensive trials which saw over 150 children try out from 78 schools.

Aston will now follow in the footsteps of England international John Stones and represent the District team.

Lynsey Hadfield, Principal at OPA Darfield, said: “We are so proud of Aston for his achievement. We are delighted he has been selected to represent the Barnsley and District Schools Football team, which is a fantastic reward for his hard work and dedication.â€

Aston was notified of his selection at a surprise assembly at the primary academy, where he was presented with Barnsley Schools under 11s squad tie. Dale Brennan, the lead coach of the Barnsley Schools under 11s squad, attended the primary academy to preset Aston with his squad tie.

The squad tie presentation is a tradition that dates back to the post-war years and allows proud parents, staff and friends the opportunity to celebrate the achievement.
