ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Freeston Year 10 Netball Team Crowned Champions

The year 10 netball team from ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Freeston have been crowned champions for the first time after success at the Castleford and Pontefract netball tournament.

The tournament, which was held at Carleton High School, is open to schools within the Castleford and Pontefract area, and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Freeston have competed in the tournament for numerous years.

The team went through the tournament unbeaten, winning all five of their games including coming from behind in the final game to win against the only other unbeaten team in the tournament.

Wendy Bartlett, a PE teacher at ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Freeston and coach of the year 10 netball team, said: “I am delighted for the girls and so proud of their success. They were a credit to the Outwood family throughout the tournament and thoroughly deserved the win.

“At Outwood we are committed to putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives. This commitment goes beyond the classroom and we want to fully support our students to reach their potential.â€

The team’s tournament played out like:
Freeston 9 - 3 Castleford
Freeston 6 - 3 Carleton A team
Freeston 7 - 1 Kings
Freeston 14 - 0 Carleton B Team
Freeston 3 - 2 St. Wilfrids

Wendy added: “The team played superbly throughout the tournament and it was a joy to watch them. They displayed excellent teamwork, with each player playing a part in each game and everyone contributing to the team’s success.â€

The champion team members were: Ella Williams, Lydia King, Eliza Robinson (Captain), Grace Keye, Natalia Miareczka, Ioana Botezatu, Hannah Parkinson, Maisie Seal.
